Stay away from them for insurance claims. They sly too. They will ask you to complete a survey before even checking that for example a replaced geyser is working. They use a globe to check for power on a replaced geyser. That says a lot. Professionals use a multimeter. After fitting a geyser they did not test the thermostat using a multimeter to see if it works correctly. After they found that the issue is with the parts they fitted they log a claim and will make you wait while they sit with the excess money already paid. Their fitment of the outdoor geyser blanket told me everything about them.

AVOID ESB !!!!( copied and pasted from email to Santam) A claim was submitted to Santam For a damaged Geyser 2024/09/20. The company ESB building and Plumbing was appointed by Santam . They came out, assessed and informed the geyser had to be replaced. The replacement geyser was bigger than the old one. They had to remove my existing geyser wise control unit and the display panel in order to fit it in the designated space. They installed the geyser and had to place the control unit and display in a different position due to the bigger geyser. They used double sided tape for the display. On 2024/11/23 I realised I don’t have hot water . I contacted ESB and they sent a plumber on 2024/11/24 He assessed that the geyser wise display had detached itself from the side panel and had fallen down into the drip tray and had water damage causing the geyser to trip. He said he would submit his assessment to the management at ESB. It is blatantly clear that the display unit was not sufficiently secured. 2024/11/25 I contacted Santam and spoke to Freddie at the call centre. He lodged a complaint :ref.793282. In a later call to Freddie he informed me that ESB deny’s removing the Geyser wise control unit and display when fitting the new geyser. I then contacted ESB and was informed I would need to speak to the owner who after screening the call was conveniently never available and is yet to phone me back. Firstly, I would like to emphasise that it’s physically impossible to fit the new geyser without the removal of the geyser wise. No Space. There’s clear evidence of the screw holes and tape where the control unit and display were previously. I can provide Photo’s. I am truly frustrated and disappointed that I am sitting without hot water and forced to have any dealings with ESB.

ESB is the worst Company to deal with. Avoid at all costs!! Our insurance appointed them to detect a leak in our floors in July 2024 we paid our excess. The plumbers didn’t find the leak at all but they said they fixed it. They told us to keep waiting for the floors to try that was in October 2024. We told them that the leak hasn’t been sorted they finally sent other plumbers but we had to make another claim and pay excess again for the problem that the first guys couldn’t fix. They had to remove our bath/shower and they can only come fix everything they destroyed on tJanuary 2025. 5 months with damp floors and bath/shower we can’t use. We will make sure we request that we never get this company from insurance again.

Unfortunately the plumbers were recommended by the insurance company. They are not able to keep to their time. They did not measure the space where the new geyser had to be fitted and took above the 4 hours to fit the geyser, with the cupboard of the geyser not closing and the geyser still leaking, and have not made contact after including them in an email to the insurance company.

AVOID ESB Building and Plumbing Services at ALL COSTS! They were assigned by my insurance company (FNB) to investigate a leak in December 2024, and the experience has been a nightmare. Their initial leak detection was a joke – the detector itself leaked gas, leading them to tear apart my bathroom wall for no reason. They then left the damage unfixed. The next day, a different plumber found the actual leak – outside my house. An ESB manager admitted their mistake and promised to repair the bathroom after the holidays. That was over two months ago. Despite FNB repeatedly instructing them to fix the damage, ESB has dragged their feet. Their latest “solution”? Replace only the small section of tile they removed, leaving the rest of my bathroom with mismatched tiles. Completely unacceptable. Their communication is appalling, their work is shoddy, and their customer service is non-existent. Judging by other reviews, this is a pattern of negligence. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of ESB. You’ll save yourself time, money, and a lot of stress. I’m now having to escalate this further to get my bathroom fixed properly – which they can apparently only do in March 2025… Wow. Imagine a company operating like this unchecked… #ESB #badservice #plumbingnightmare #avoidatallcosts #FNB #santam #insurance #reviews #truth
